Gia is Grace’s BFF. Newly six and fully of personality, Gia lives about 200 feet away from us. We rarely see Grace on the weekends; they knock on each other’s doors at 8:30 in the morning, and play outside until the sun has long set, and they can barely see each other anymore. They love pretending to be singers, making up dances, eating popsicles and solving mysteries (i.e. Bigfoot was recently in our neighborhood, did you know? Grace and Gia have the soda pop tabs, roly poly carcass, and plastic twist ties to prove it.)
One day I went out to check on the girls and found them with a wad of cash and a grocery sack containing a half naked Barbie, a stuffed cat who had clearly lived out his nine years, some ping pong balls, and other junk from the bottom of the toy box special items.
“Where did you get that money?”
“We are selling our toys.”
“What?”
“Yeah. We don’t want these anymore. So we are going around to the neighbors and selling them.”
“Guys, I don’t think that is a good …”
“Look! We made $11!”
So Gia’s mom and I helped them find some more treasures to sell. 😉
Gia is truly like a sister to Grace, so I was super excited to do a mini session with her and her mom (aka The Popsicle Pusher). We are so thankful to have them in our lives; you can’t ask for better than great neighbors turned great friends. In other words: Val, you can never move. 🙂
That’s Gia’s extremely loved blanket, Nana. (Not Nana, like rhyming with banana … nana like rhyming with mama, Grace informed me). Whatever it’s called, I love it and it’s frayed edges, and barely there backing.
I asked Gia to pick a book to read with mom, and she grabbed one of their bedtime favorites. 🙂
I asked for a couple posy-pose shots in the garage, and Gia went into ANTM mode in no time flat. Haha! I think she liked playing up the camera, and it was certainly fun to photograph her.
And roughly three seconds after the serious gaze above, I am pretty sure she ran off to find more clues pointing to Bigfoot’s visit to Orange County. 😉
