(This is the second post in my What We Did Last Summer series; a photo-journal of sorts, documenting each day of summer 2013.)
First, let’s be honest about what we did during week two. How about Mommy survived and no one went to prison for assault. Yet. Fighting between siblings is apparently an art that y’all have mastered, and feel the need to demonstrate on an hourly basis. Yesterday I heard one of you tell the other “LOOK. WE HAVE DIFFERENT PHILO-FO-SEES, OKAY!??!” I have one philosophy, and it’s the be cute and quiet kind; adopt it.
Bickering aside, I am loving this time with you, reminding myself how quick it goes. Here’s what else you did the second week of summer.
You saved a lot of money to be able to afford a new board game, then counted down the hours til UPS delivered it. When it seems like every second you are stepping further away from little boy, to young man, I cherish those smiles I see on your face when ripping into a new toy.
You engineered amazing rocket ship.
You practiced your parkour.
We went swimming.
Our big event for the week was going to the Balboa Fun Zone with Grandma.
You loved the games.
And the food.
And there was this.
The vision: Let’s get some really fun shots of us on the ferris wheel!
The reality: Huddling in a corner of the bucket, six miles up, whispering IAMGOINGTODIE. I may or may not have also yelled at the sweet seven year old girl in the seat in front of me to stop rocking her bucket. I was only trying to save her life. The ferris wheel was 902 years old and made out of Lincoln logs; I swear I coughed and saw bolts popping off. I also popped off after one rotation and took the above photo. I am sure you are in it somewhere, you’re welcome for preserving that memory.
Love you guys. -Mom
