The Car Seat Kid {Orange County Family Photographer}

Nathan is my third child, and thanks to sibling one and two, he spends a lot of his time tagging along to various soccer games, basketball games, Daisy meetings, school activities, etc.  He is the Car Seat Kid; spending much of time plopped in the goldfish-and-apple-juice-encrusted minivan, along for the ride.

Needless to say, I am enjoying the one-on-one time with him while the other two are at school.  Nathan recently started speech therapy down in San Juan, and it happens to be within walking distance of Zoomars Petting Zoo/Animal Resort (I’ll get to that in a sec), so last week we made a special day of just Nathan, Mom and Dad hanging out.  He loved it … as did we.

(Side note:  Nathan attends speech therapy at the Speech, Language and Learning Center.  They are awesome at what they do.  When your child is telling everyone that he was a “Piwate with a Whore”  {translation: pirate with a sword} for Halloween, you know you need a little help.)

My favorite part of Zoomars is hands down the bunny/guinea pig pen.  Obese-yet-still-hungry-non-biting-rodents = awesome.  Nathan travelled from critter to critter, gingerly shoving carrots in their mouths.

He loved the pony ride … weeeee!

Okay, so maybe he rode a real pony.  But that bench is really cool.

I am so not ready for this boy to grow up … why don’t kids come with a pause button?!

This guy also requested a close-up …

I don’t even know what to say about the next photo … we live in Orange County, and it shows.  This goat has his own condo.  With a nice porch.  And tiered roofing.  Probably a fireplace and a glass of scotch waiting inside for him too.  Just … wow …

I swear, the goat lying down on the right is giving me the stink eye.  I think he is ticked that he doesn’t have a condo.

When I got home, I noticed this sweet father-son shot of Matt and Nathan watching the train unload, had another sweet father and son in the frame!  So cute!

But their kid is not simultaneously giving the bird and picking his nose, so we win.

I get to hang out with this guy …

… every day from 7:30 to 2:00 … solo.  Me and him against the (goats-in-condos) world.  And I would have it no other way.  🙂

{LOVE} So, so awesome. Side note… I think that Jeff was a Pirate with a whore for Halloween one year, too. He and Nathan should get together. 😉

Just recently found your blog. It was recommended to me by Glenn Feingerts. Your portraits are just beautiful! Your son is adorable. And I love the one of him and his dad by the train, too cute. I look forward to your future posts 🙂

These pics of your son are so wonderful and honest. He seems so mischievous in the first. Outstanding!

Christie, I've been a fan for a long time (from ILP). You're just wonderful! Can I ask which lens you took along with you for this outing? Thanks! ~ Jill
